Get help with WebVoice
How do I install WebVoice?
Install WebVoice from the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". No account is required for free local reading.
Why isn't the extension working?
Make sure WebVoice is enabled in chrome://extensions. After installing or updating the extension, refresh the current web page and try again.
Some pages cannot be read
Some pages cannot be read because of browser security restrictions. This may include Chrome internal pages, the Chrome Web Store, browser PDF viewers, protected iframes, canvas-rendered text, or closed Shadow DOM content.
How does local reading work?
Local reading uses browser or system voices available on your device. In local reading mode, page text stays in your browser and is not uploaded by WebVoice.
Why does a language have no sound?
Local reading depends on voices installed in your browser or operating system. If a language has no available voice, install the related system language or speech pack, or use a configured cloud TTS provider.
How do I use cloud TTS?
Open WebVoice settings, choose a cloud TTS provider, and enter the required API key or token. Cloud TTS is optional and is used only when you enable it. Cloud TTS availability, voices, formats, and pricing depend on the selected provider.
Can I download audio?
Audio download is available for supported cloud TTS output. Local browser voices are for playback and may not provide downloadable audio data.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Click the WebVoice icon, open Settings, enter the email you want to use for checkout, and choose a plan. Payments open Stripe-hosted checkout pages. WebVoice does not collect credit card details.
How do I verify my purchase?
After checkout, return to WebVoice settings and enter the same email used at checkout. WebVoice checks the purchase or subscription status with Stripe.
